If you’re in MLM, you feel like you are your own boss. You set your own hours, pay for your supplies, and take tax deductions (I like that part). But, your company may have the last word.
I urge you to check your policies and procedures for your company. If there is a mention of the company having the right to cancel your membership, you had better run and look for another company.
If you ask the CEO, he’ll tell you that they will never use that clause. Well, then why is it there? Why won’t they remove it?
You don’t want to build a successful business and then have the company take your downline away from you whenever they please.
It has happened to others. Don’t let it happen to you.

Know your Boss
In MLM, you are your own boss in almost every way. You make your own hours and reap the benefits. But, the head of the company is still your boss in a way. He may be able to change how much you make by changing the policies and procedures of the company.
So, before you choose a company to affiliate yourself with, do some research on the head honcho. Does he have experience in MLM? Being a representative, I mean, not just the head of another MLM company. If not, he may not be concerned about tweaking the rules to make more profit for the company. Check if he is able to do this without consent of the distributors.
The best companies are run by those who have come up through the ranks. This is true for MLMs and any other type of company.
You’re going to put a lot of time and effort into your business. Make sure the company behind it is worthwhile.

How to Find a Mentor
Have you ever gotten to a point where you are stuck and need guidance? Most of us have. You know you can do better but aren’t sure how. They say when the student is ready, the teacher will appear, but I’ll give you a shortcut: Mentoring For Free.
Yep, it’s free. No one will try to talk you into joining a business or spending money on something. They just want to help you become a better person in whatever way you need.
I know, it sounds too good to be true. I was skeptical at first also, but I have learned and grown a lot as a person, and I have them to thank for it.
My favorite is the 30-day cleanse. You read a chapter in Napoleon Hill’s book, Think and Grow Rich, and you write a comment. Then on the weekly call, you discuss it.
Try it: www.30daycleanse.com
See you there.

How to Handle Rejection in MLM
You don’t have to choose between making money in Network Marketing and your friends! Forget about making that list of “friends and family” that you’ll be showing your business idea to. Thanks to the Internet, we can invite people we’ve never met to look at our business idea. If they want to get involved, great. If not, that’s ok too. It’s not like we have to spend every Thanksgiving with them.
Think of it this way: I live in Chicago. I want someone to drive my car to New York so I can fly out and not have to rent a car during my vacation.
I ask Joe if he’ll drive it out. He says, no, I have to be in San Jose next week for a convention. He’s not insulting me or my car; he just has too much to do next week.
I ask Fred. He says no. I say, hey, this is a 1971 red Mustang with a white rag top, V8 turbo. He still says no. I say, it’s a classic car! The girls will love it! I’m getting upset at this point because I don’t understand why Fred doesn’t like my car. He finally tells me he hates New York. His ex-wife lives there and he doesn’t want to even come close to it.
I ask George. He says, sure, he’ll drive it out. But the days go by and he hasn’t left yet. He couldn’t get off work, the kids are sick, his laptop died. Things keep happening. Whether he really could have gone anyway is moot; I finally realize he’s not going to do it.
I ask Maria. She only agrees to think about it, but the next day calls and agrees to drive my car to NY. I am so glad to finally get my car in motion. The trip goes well, and afterwards we get talking about the car. She likes the way I did the restoration, and her brother is interested in doing some other classic cars. We get into business together and make money and have fun.
The moral of the story is: Don’t take it personally when people don’t want to go into business with you. They may be too busy, or just not want to. They may procrastinate forever. Or they may join you and together you may go places you’ve never dreamed of. The decision is about the business, it’s not about you as a person.

Why people Join an MLM
1. extra income
Everyone wants more money so they can do more. People get tired of working to support their bosses’ lifestyles, and want their hard work to support their own lifestyles.
2. financial freedom
To be able to work your own hours from your own home, around your own schedule, flexible enough to take time off when your child gets sick. Not having to ask permission for a vacation!
3. having my own business
Owning a business lets you enjoy the tax benefits instead of paying income taxes as a worker and then paying sales tax on what you buy with the money you already paid taxes on.
4. more spare time
At first, your own business will take up a lot of your time, but after a while not only will you be better at it, you will be able to afford to pay others to do the boring stuff, like bookkeeping.
5. personal development
Growing as a person is a goal for each of us, and with your own business, the training costs are tax-deductible. Working with many different types of people develops your people skills as well. The 30-day Cleanse program with Mentoring for Free certainly helps me grow as a person.
6. helping others
Being able to offer others a way out of the rat race is very fulfilling, and watching them succeed is awesome. Helping people become financially self-sufficient is a joy. The Mentoring for Free people are willing to help anyone succeed in MLM regardless of what company they are with. I think that is wonderful.
7. meeting new people
Most people in MLM are positive-minded, and are a pleasure to work with. Most people is general are good to know and friends are a real treasure in life.
8. retirement
Not everyone wants to work until they day they die, let alone sitting alone trying to eke by on social security. A good business will grow on its own after a while and you can sit back (if you wish) and reap the benefits. If you choose to keep going, it’s your choice.
9. leave a legacy
Being able to leave something for the kids after you’re gone is a wonderful feeling. Knowing they’ll never go wanting for the necessities of life is a great relief.

Math and Why People Quit MLM
I know what you're thinking- "What does math have to do with MLM?"
Well, math shows the reason that many people quit their Network Marketing Businesses.
People normally think linearly. One apple plus one apple makes two apples. But, as is mentioned in Rich Dad, Poor Dad by R. Kyosaki and attested to by many others, leaders learn to think geometrically.
Let me explain. Picture a pond. You have a lily that can double itself every day. You plant it in the pond. At the end of 40 days, say, your pond is completely covered with lilies. Now, go back a day to day 39. Your pond is only half covered by lilies. It's still pretty. Go back 5 days. You've been weeding that pond for 35 days; you've put it 87% of the effort needed to grow those lilies. But, only 3% of the pond is covered by those lazy lilies. Nobody in their right mind would keep working on the lilies. Nobody who didn't understand geometric progression, that is.
Network Marketing works geometrically. It takes almost forever to get started, but if you don't quit, something starts slowly happening, then it takes off.
Don't give up!

How to Succeed in MLM without Recruiting
You’re wondering what I’ve been drinking, right?
Well, here’s the Key to succeed in Network Marketing without the “Recruit, recruit, recruit!” drama: Take only volunteers! That’s it in a nutshell.
If you have to talk someone into joining your company, he probably doesn’t want to do it anyway, and won’t. He’ll quit after a month or a year. Maybe sooner; he might just be joining to shut you up or to avoid hurting your feelings.
Either way, he’ll have spent money for nothing, and you’ll have spent time training him for nothing. So why bother?
Only accept people into your business if you would be willing to spend a month with them on a cruise ship, as my friend Michael Dlouhy says.
Just give people the information they need to make an informed decision, and let them choose. Either way, you win. You gain the time you would have wasted with them, or you gain a business associate who wants to learn how to succeed.

Reverse Engineer Your MLM Business
OK, I'm an engineer. I admit it freely. If I don't keep myself on track, I get Analysis Paralysis. Here's something I learned that helped me, and I hope it will help you.
Create a chart that shows where you want to be in a year, or at the next convention, or three months down the road, whichever you choose.
Going backwards from the goal, create monthly charts that show where you should be that month. For example, if you want to sponsor ten people in ten months into your business, your goal for month #9 would show 9 people in your downline. Month 8's chart would show 8 people, and so on.
Take each downline person and chart their goals with them. For instance, if you're building depth, some of those 10 people will be directly under someone else in your group. Go over the goal with them and help them plan their own 10 month plan.
Find a way to keep them accountable and moving forward. Arrange for weekly calls for advice, support, questions and encouragement. Make sure you and they all have these charts where they can see them.
Help them make charts for each of their downline people, and all the people down the line. This way everyone knows where they're going and how to get there. It breaks the big task down into little steps which can be done.
